Scotland Elementary School

Welcome to the online home of Scotland Elementary School. We are one of nine schools in the Ridgefield Public Schools, located at the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains in Connecticut. We serve 372 kindergarten through fifth grade students, preparing our youngsters for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Scotland Community,

As the proud principal of this school, I would like to welcome you to our website! We hope you find this tool a helpful one where you will find important messages, dates for special events and school updates to keep you informed of life at Scotland.

Our teachers and staff utilize the Responsive Classroom approach to help support students’ social emotional growth and well-being which positively impacts learning experiences both in and out of school.

Through the workshop model of instruction, our students are engaged in all content areas through guided and independent practice where student discourse is encouraged and valued as well as creativity and collaboration.  

Students develop their Scotty Pride by taking part in the varied events during and after school from the Scotty Sprint in the fall to the concerts and plays throughout the year including a dance performance and an art show in the spring!

Scotland’s PTA has a strong positive presence in our school, supporting teaching and learning in various ways including the arts and sciences and after school enrichment classes to name a few.
